Steps

There are 3 steps to the TNS Training Plan and we will repeat them over and over as we progress to higher levels – Evaluate, Implement, Execute. It all begins with an in-depth meeting with your certified coach who will gather all of the information needed – experience, goals, preferences, - to design the perfect program for you. From there the plan is implemented, whether uploaded to an internet platform for you or sent directly via spreadsheet. Finally, we execute the plan and set ourselves up for success!

Evaluate

  1. Initial meeting with coach to discuss experience & goals
  2. Optional comprehensive evaluation at Core Performance – Body composition, VO2 Max

Implement

  1. Your certified coach designs a custom program for you based on your goals and discusses it with you in depth.

Execute

  1. Your plan is updated as needed to reflect progress, refined goals, injury, etc.
  2. Depending on your plan, you meet with your coach weekly, monthly or simply discuss via phone or email.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1) How does TNS Training work?

Every program begins with a consultation between athlete and coach. This session enables your coach to get to know you and learn about your goals, experience, medical history, etc. From there the programs can vary. TNS Training is designed for triathletes of all levels and experience. Programs vary in coach-athlete interaction, from 'hands-off' for the athlete who is primarily self-coached but just needs a point in the right direction, to totally 'hands-on' for the athlete who wants to meet with a coach weekly, or even several times per week.

2) What if I choose a self-coached program but have questions?

The cornerstones of TNS Training are accessibility, accountability and a genuine interest in seeing each athlete succeed. Although your package may not allow for fully coached sessions, your certified coach is always available via email or phone.

3) How are TNS Training programs designed?

You have the options of accessing your program through www.trainingpeaks.com or via spreadsheet. All of your workouts are based on specific heart rate zones.

4) What is the difference between TNS Training and TNS Racing?

TNS Training is a general term covering all of the athletes training under the Team Next Step umbrella. TNS Racing refers to the Elite athletes sponsored by and coached by TNS. They are provided with coaching, gear, and assistance with their race entry fees for promoting the TNS brand. All athletes have the opportunity to make it to this level but must have at least one season of proven elite level results to be considered.

5) What about Group workouts?

TNS is built on the ideal that the group is stronger than the individual. Group training sessions are safer, more fun, more educational and more productive. We will continue to schedule as many group workouts as possible throughout the year.

6) What if I don't live in Southern California?

The beauty of our training programs is that they can be implemented via the internet and by using the phone/email, we can coach you to success no matter where you live.
